The Columbia Fireflies reach one million in attendance

The Columbia Fireflies hit seven figures in all-time attendance and they give one lucky a fan a chance to win one million dollars

The first ever inside-the-park home run at Segra Park was part of the story Friday night as the Columbia Fireflies went over the one million mark in attendance.

The Fireflies battled the Charleston Riverdogs and fell 4-3 in 10 innings.

Down 2-0 in the fifth, Mark Vientos delivered a two-run inside-the park home run to tie the game. After the Riverdogs took a 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Columbia tied in the bottom of the frame with an RBI triple by Carlos Sanchez.

In the top of the 10th inning, Charleston would take the lead with a sacrifice fly. Kyle Gray would come home on the play but Fireflies manager Pedro Lopez would argue that Gray left early and that led to his ejection by home plate umpire Mitch Leikam.

After the game, grand prize winner Abby Deborde would vie for the million dollars. But Deborde, who didn't even know about the promotion before she came to the park, would settle for a cruise. With 35 envelopes on the field, the USC graduate student would learn what prize she had won when she would land five matching envelopes. With the million, a cruise and a New York Mets getaway package up for grabs, Deborde landed five envelopes with the information on the cruise. So while she did not land the million, Abby did not walk away empty-handed.
