On the day Monte Lee met the media to talk about the start of preseason practice, the Clemson head baseball coach announced the leading hitter in terms of batting average has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules.

Michael Green, a Strom Thurmond product,  hit .307 with three home runs, 14 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

Reserve pitcher Ryne Huggins out of Newberry High School is out for the season with an arm injury which he suffered in the fall. Last year, Huggins had a 3.60 ERA in seven appearances.

On Thursday, pitcher Jacob Hennessy announced on Twitter his career was over. He suffered an injury near the end of fall and it turned out to be a UCL injury which means he will have Tommy John surgery. With recovery expected to go into the 2021 season, Hennessy decided to not pursue a medical redshirt option and transition into a rule of student coach.

Clemson opens the season February 14 against Liberty.
