Honda, Kia, Volkswagen among 67,000 latest vehicles on recall: Check recent car recalls here

Honda, Volkswagen, and Kia are among the car manufacturers wrapped up in the recall of more than 67,000 vehicles in this week’s recall round-up.

NHTSA issues 'do not drive' advisories for older Honda and Acura models

The NHTSA warned the public not to drive certain old Honda and Acura models until an issue with the airbag was fixed. The agency said the cars are equipped with Takata Alpha driver-side airbag inflators. These airbags, the NHTSA said, have a 50% failure rate in even minor collisions. 

“If the inflators rupture, the metal fragments ejected toward the driver’s face could kill or leave them with devastating, life-altering injuries,” the agency said in its advisory. 

Roughly 8,200 vehicles affected include: 

• 2001-2002 Honda Accord. 
• 2001-2002 Honda Civic. 
• 2002 Honda CR-V. 
• 2002 Honda Odyssey. 
• 2003 Honda Pilot. 
• 2002-2003 Acura 3.2 TL. 
• 2003 Acura 3.2CL.

Each vehicle is under recall and qualifies for a free airbag repair, the NHTSA said. The advisory is the latest in a broader recall of Takata-made airbags that has affected millions of vehicles and led to at least 24 deaths in the United States.  

2023 Range Rovers recalled over fire risk 

Jaguar Land Rover has recalled 6,644 Land Rover and Range Rover SUVs over a defect that may cause them to leak oil, posing a potential fire risk, according to NHTSA filings.

Models affected: 

• 2023 Land Rover Range Rover (1,080 vehicles). 
• 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport (2,520 vehicles).
• 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Velar (631 vehicles). 
• 2023 Land Rover Discovery (107 vehicles). 
• 2023 Land Rover Defender (2,306 vehicles). 

Owners will be notified of the recall by March 31. A free repair will be offered at authorized repair shops, according to the NHTSA.

An additional 229 2023 Jaguar F-Pace SUVs were also recalled over the same issue. 

2021 Volkswagen EVs may lose power while driving 

Volkswagen said 20,904 of its 2021 Volkswagen ID4 electric vehicles are under recall because a battery management control module may reset, or, in rare cases, a pulse inverter may deactivate while the car is in transit. The issue could lead to a loss of power in the vehicle without warning and increase the risk of a crash, Volkswagen told the NHTSA. 

Owners will be notified of the recall on March 31 and can receive a software update that should fix the issue, according to the NHTSA. 

Kia recalls 2023 Telluride SUVs with airbags that don’t deploy

Kia is recalling 31,943 2023 Telluride SUVs because the side airbag wire harness was improperly manufactured by a supplier, which might cause the airbag not to deploy in a crash, according to NHTSA filings. 

Kia said it would notify owners about the recall on Feb. 28 and offer a free repair.
